ARRONDISSEMENTS

It is important to understand that Paris is divided into 20 “arrondissements” (ah-roa[n]-dees-MAW[n]) and directions generally include which “arrondissement” something is located in.

You should know which arrondissement you are staying in. They start in the “center” and spiral outward clockwise. These are reflected in the last two numbers of the postal codes. For example, the 12th arrondissement postal code is 75012.
